1968 JAGUAR 3.8 S-TYPE

Transmission: Manual
Mileage: 35364 KM
Colour: Blue

The Jaguar Car Company have been building Saloons cars since 1935 with the SS Jaguar 2 ½ Litre Sports Saloon and in 1945 the shareholders of S.S Cars in a general meeting changed the company’s name to JAGUAR CARS LIMITED. William Lyons the Chairman of the company said “Unlike S.S the Jaguar is a Distinctive and cannot be connected or confused with a similar foreign name”
In the early days of Jaguar, they were renowned for the Straight Six engine build in 3.4 ltr and 3.8ltr and in the XJ and later E-types the 4.2 ltr engine. The configuration of engine won then championships and races like Le Mans. And Jag were the first company to offer Disk Brakes all-round the Jaguar MK 2.
The Followed the MK2 and was in production from 1963- 1968 with 9928 of the 3.4litres built and 15065 of the 3.8 Litre S-Types built. That the time you could build the vehicle with a 4spd Overdrive manual box and 3 spd automatic.
The S-Type is one of the best-looking saloons the Jaguar built before the XJ series. This example in the light blue is very striking and original. When you see her the first thing you notice is the headlights and the Cat on the Bonnet that you do not get on today’s Jags. Then the beautiful lines on of the body inviting you in to open the driver’s door. Once in the cabin you find yourself enjoy the comfortable red leather seats and the wood veneer finishing’s.
Starting the Car is incredibly old school as you turn the key and push the start button on the centre dashboard (this is making a comeback on cars today as they are keyless). The Engine swings over and comes alive with the 6cylinders purring. Engaging 1st Gear and you drive off in car that is happy to cruise and give a little stick. The gear changes are smooth, and the suspension soaks up all the road imperfections.
She maybe 54years old, probably been round the clock but after the restoration it feel and looks like a car that has only done 46000kms and will give some modern cars a run for the money in Looks, drive quality and luxury, this is certainly a car for the person the understands the Values of great motoring, and passion for cars
