1970 Chev Suburban C10

Transmission: Manual
Mileage: 39580km
Colour: Light Green

On offer is a very rare to South Africa car…in fact, we have never seen one before this example.

Chevrolet started producing these Suburban’s as far back as 1934 making it the longest continuously used Automobile Namplates’ in production history. What makes this unique other than the fact it’s the longest station wagon produced for ever and a day, is the 3 door configuration. This, the 6th generation C10 was produced from 1967 to 1972.

This example is LHD paired with the in-line 4.1lt 6 cylinder motor and 4×4 drivetrain making it a rather capable vehicle when the going gets tough. It was originally brought into the country and used by the US Embassy and then sold to a local Doctor in around 1973, when he passed on it went into his Son’s ownership who has since too passed on so essentially it has belonged to one family for its entire life. The car does show the usual signs of wear and tear one would expect from a 51yr old vehicle, however you can see it was looked after during the years. It runs and drive, but a decent service is needed if the new caretaker wants a safe reliable long distance type vehicle. The clock reads 39k, but based on the age and condition of this vehicle, we would assume its clocked itself once or twice.. We have a whole host of spares, parts and consumables with the vehicle for when the buyer wants to recommission the car. This list and pictures are available on request. The buyer could swing either way – keep it standard, period correct and restore because its in good enough shape to go this route, or a builder would have a fantastic base for a proper big build. We have reached out to one of South African’s most respective builders when it comes to Chevy trucks who reckons this is something he has never seen before in SA and an ideal candidate for an exciting build.

So, if you want something completely different, then maybe this truck is for you!
