Most car and non-car lovers know the classic brand that is MINI and everyone knows of TOYOTA.

What do you get when you cross and Mini with a Toyota? Well, you get a giant slayer in a little body that puts out about 112hp @6600RPM, let’s look at the Mini’s history and then some of the history about this engine.
Mini is a little car company that came about due to the fuel shortage and the Suez Canal Crisis in 1956. Other brands like Fiat build the 500 and in Germany, the bubble cars boomed.

At the time the head of BMC (British Motor Company) Leonard Lord vowed to get rid of them and design a “proper miniature car”. The specs were set at 3.0×1.2×1.2m and should carry a family of 4 with the engine capacity to move them forward. In turn, they developed the 850cc and in later years and models, the engine in the Mini’s grew to a 1250cc.

Today BMW owns MINI and the brand lives on building bigger cars with 2ltr engines and is even moving with the times of Electric Vehicles

Now we have dealt with the car tell have a short look at the Toyota part of this car. The 4A-GE motor which is the heart of this Mini was produced from 1995-2000 and uses Toyota’s VVT Technology in a transverse format with a 5spd gearbox. This engine can develop up to 123kw @ 7800rpm, and we can tell you that it loves to rev.

We have touched on the Mini history and the engine, now what is it like to drive… It’s an experience that needs to be felt, for Mini owners it would be like driving their classic but faster. The 1.6 20V just boosts the car to speeds that most classic Mini haven’t seen. And the 5spd gearbox is smooth and shifts fast taking you beyond legal speeds in secs.

The handling is provided by the common Mini Suspension, and some nice 13 inch wheels and rubber. Some things this Mini didn’t have from the factory is disk brakes on all 4 wheels, which honestly is required with the little giant slayer.
The Interior has been tweaked with new instruments and bucket seats to hold youin the fast twisties and you will be looking for them.
We know she isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but if you are a person that loves to drive and doesn’t mind being in the limelight this easy highway roller could be your next toy.
