1982 Range Rover Classic

Transmission: Manual

Mileage: 222554 kms

Colour: White

The quintessential Range Rover Classic started the era of the SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) in 1969 and was built until 1996. Today most vehicle brands have followed suit with a SUV in their range.

Other firsts with the Range Rover was all wheel drive on a production vehicle for the roads, meadows, and the countryside. Their moto back then and still now is “The Best 4×4 by Far” and the Classic is does live up to that.

The great Rover V8 engine found in several models of British Leyland like the Morgan Plus 8 and the Triumph TR8 was the bases of the Range Rover Classic, match to a 4Spd manual or 3 spd Automatic gearbox, and 4-wheel drive transfer case with low and high range made it more than capable to climb rugged hills and run round town at 100kph. Later models also had an overdrive.

If our classic could tell its tales we would be here days and maybe weeks, she has travelled the southern part of Africa several times. She seen lions in the Kruger Park, gone fishing in Lake Malawi, driven on the salt pans of Botswana and played in the sand dunes of Namibia. She has even rescued vehicles half her age and still has plenty life in her to share many more stories with her new owners. Talking about owners this classic has only had 2 and the last one has had her for 25years.

When you look at this classic it is very original and has only had paint work done on the driver’s door due to a small bender that happen in the garden. Opening the bonnet, you find the historic and great V8 Rover engine that has been well maintained, and still purrs along as you drive it. You will also find two batteries, the 1st for maintaining the vehicles electrics and the 2nd to run your camp site overnight but to note that both are charged while the car is running.
Changing gears is an artform, the gearbox and transfer case does not take well to slamming threw the gears which was normal for these old cars. The ride is solid and the vehicle is very stable under all conditions, yes this example doesn’t have the overdrive so at 100kph the engine revs at 4000 rpm but its happy there.

Sitting inside you will find the interior neat, clean and the seats are covered in Merill & Moon covers, these covers have been in the car most of its life and if you remove them you will find the original seats are like new underneath.

Are you looking for a new adventure in the old art of the Classic camping under the skies, going nowhere in a hurry, then we feel the Range Rover is your next Classic SUV!
