2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 996 Turbo Manual

Transmission: Manual

Mileage: 77729km

Colour: Silver Blue

Porsche really upped the ante when they brought the 996 Turbo to market with some super blistering performance…many were polarized by the ‘fried egg’ shaped headlights, but 20yrs on, these have come back in fashion and look just right to most.

The 996 was manufactured from 1997 to 2006. It had little in common with its predecessor, with the first all-new chassis platform since the original 911 and a new water-cooled engine. A big change for the Porsche purists, but technically, it was a major change, a complete breakthrough from the original car other than the overall layout. Development also included new front suspension, various interior components, and the engine, all of which were enlarged for the 996.  Other major changes include a completely new platform having a sleeker body with a more raked windshield, and a re-designed interior along with new “fried egg” shaped headlamps (so-called due to the amber coloured turn signals) instead of previous “bug-eye” headlamps.[3]

The car in question has seen 3 previous owners who have cared well for the car…the interior is ‘almost new’ and shows very little signs of wear. I suppose we could say this is typical of Porsche built quality which is a good thing right!? Full-service history verifies its cared for history. The manual box is slick coupled with a light clutch making this car a daily driver if you wanted, but we suspect the new owner will be rather adding this prime example to a collection since these values are on the rise. It’s possibly the right time to get into 996 range-topping version which, unlike the GT3, can cruise comfortably at speed for hours on end delivering you to your next adventure still feeling refreshed. Turbo Power and boy, do these turbo’s kick you straight in the back! Powered by a water-cooled twin-turbocharged and intercooled 3.6-litre flat-6 engine derived from the 1998 Le Mans winning 911 GT1 race car, this engine is rated at 309 kW at 6,000 rpm and 563 N⋅m of torque.

Late nineties performance is nothing to smear at and this Porsche proves that!

This car feels fresh off the factory floor and It still tickles all the right senses whilst eating up the tarmac mile after mile!
